Abstract

|
Fortimicin, a new aminoglycoside antibiotic, was administered and the following results were obtained:
1) Fortimicin 200 mg twice daily was administered to 32 patients with complicated urinary tract infection intramuscularly for 5 days in principle.
Clinical results were excellent in 10, good in 17, poor in 5, and an effectiveness rate was 84.4
2) Bacteriological response to Fortimicin was eradicated in 27 (79.4 %) out of 34 strains.
K. pneumoniae, E. cloacae, S. marcescens, A. anitratus, E. agglomerans and C. freundii
were all eliminated, whereas S. faecalis and P. vulgaris persisted. 3) No abnormality was observed objectively and subjectively.
